PROJECT
Superheroes Save the Day
Randy Pausch, the author of the Last Lecture, is known for saying, “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” He is also known for teaching his students to live childhood dreams. My childhood dreams are to have a college degree and to write books. My edge project will help me reach both of those goals.

I participated in National Novel Writing Month in 2013 and wrote a children’s book called Super Heroes Save the Day. After a few life changing events and returning to school fulltime, this personal project sat in a file waiting to be edited.
For this project, I spent forty hours editing the manuscript. Although it still needs another round of editing before I feel it is ready to submit to a publisher in a query format, I was able to use the skills I learned over the last few years to make this story easier to read and more lifelike. So I can follow Randy Pausch’s encouragement of following your childhood dream.

I have updated this section and removed some of the more personal reasons for starting this project. My personal reasons do not need to be posted on the internet.

Professionally, this will teach me to write for a different audience, improve my voice as a writer and improve my editing skills. Personally, this will be a tool to find myself again.
